The visionary Pritzker Prize winner Jean Nouvel designed the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island.

The leaf-like holes cut into the dome allow the sun to filter through for an effect meant to represent sunlight passing through palm fronds.  Truly magical.

In 1990, a little more than two years after the death of their friend Andy Warhol, John Cale and Lou Reed released an album called “Songs for Drella" in memory of Warhol.

The last song on the album, “Hello It’s Me,” is a beautiful goodbye that acknowledges the complexity of friendship. I also think it’s one of Reed’s best songs (which is really saying something). Lou Reed died today. I’ll miss him.
